Sun Protection

EVERYONE should be using sun-screen on a daily basis. The medical reasons are well documented but did you know that the sun has been scientifically proven to cause photo-aging - a term known as dermatoheliosis? Further did you know that there are actually two types ultraviolet radiation that damage the skin, age it prematurely, and increase your risk of skin cancer? They are UVB and UVA. UVB is the chief culprit behind sunburn, while UVA rays, which penetrate the skin more deeply, are associated with wrinkling, leathering, sagging, and other light-induced effects of aging. And if you think you are safe because you work in an office, even those who work inside are exposed to ultraviolet radiation for brief periods throughout the day - especially if they work near windows, which generally filter out UVB but not UVA rays (the ones that cause wrinkling).
